...............................................What's in my Head: January 2009

Ok, so one plus a few extra weeks but that's ok. She just had a good one-year checkup on Wednesday. It's amazing that a year has gone by. I'm really sad at seeing my baby girl fade away - I know babyhood is so temporary but I did enjoy her so much! Of course on the positive, I see this adorable, smart, fearless little girl growing before my eyes! I laugh everyday at the things she does, tries to say and how she giggles (the best sound in the world!). Here's the stats for one year: She's now about 25 pounds (92%), 31 1/2 inches tall (97% go you big girl!) and her head is 47 cm (93%). So she's topping the charts - which explains why she's fully into 18 month clothes now! She is all done with nursing and formula; drinks from all kinds of cups (but prefers milk in a bottle, but we're working on that). She doesn't seem to refuse ANY food - so is already doing better than mommy and daddy on eating a good variety of foods. She has several molars in now and more on the way! She knows lots of words, but isn't saying them yet: fan, baby, Elmo, monkey, pillow, tv, horse, to name a few - but not mama yet!!!!!! She does like to point to things and is interested in everything. She talks her own language, and her sound combinations are sounding more and more like speech (as a minor expert at one time in this area, I would wish for more, yet I know she's perfectly normal). She started walking so good right after 11 months and now thinks it's hilarious to run down the hall to me - even if she falls once or twice in the process - God help us this spring and summer when we go outside finally! My favorite thing is how she loves books. She sits down with them, uses her feet to prop them up, and then turns the pages and points at both sides of the page and says "oots" and other comments. She definitely has her favorite pages in many books, and favorite books as well. She got a bunch more for her birthday and she already has found favorite pages in those! She seems to know somethings wrong when she has books upside down and will turn them right quickly. I would call her first "word" as "uh oh" - it's so cute and she often uses it correctly (as when she drops something) - but other times just enjoys saying it. My dad says her first "word" was "AAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGHHHHH" - her "monster" noise that she makes when she's happy, like when I come pick her up, or when Grandpa turns the fan on at their house. She is ticklish and loves to play tickle games with mommy; then will dive into pillows and roll around with them. She's a good sleeper, but still has to cry on avg 10 mins each night...it's getting better! I know there's lots more but that's what comes to mind, so now the fun part - pictures! I'll share some pictures and some scrapbook pages of our big girlie! The top ones are her two birthday parties! My camera flash wasn't performing well on the first one, but I can try to edit a bit in Photoshop Elements. You can tell she was fascinated with the cake! Then there's a snoozing pic with a rare time she snuggled with me. A few Christmas ones - forgot if I shared them on my Christmas post - oh well if I did - and then a SB page of Calleigh enjoying the big snow we had - I LOVED this pic and scrapped a full 8x10 photo of it!
